My Memoir
Late Starter
They say that “It’s an ill wind that blows no good” but in 1989 I was able to lay that old saying to rest. I did severe damage to my neck when we arrived in Bangkok, after a filming expedition to Laos with the great Australian actor Jack Thompson.
I slipped on the bath room floor in the luxury hotel we were staying at, and hit my head on the edge of the bath tub. I spent the next two months in hospital. However the time there was well spent. I recovered and met a very nice nurse who spoke perfect English.
I also applied for a job at IBC,(International Broadcasting Corporation), Thailand’s one and only English language cable TV station. I spent a year in Thailand, married the nurse, and we both returned to Australia for more exciting adventures together.
